RI MPCPMP Meeting
A meeting of the RI Middle Passage Ceremonies and Port Markers Project (RI MPCPMP) was held on Friday, January 27th at Imago Foundation for the Arts. Warren, Bristol, Newport and Providence are the four Rhode Island communities that are working to increase local awareness of Rhode Island's role in the transatlantic slave trade.
The Warren Middle Passage Project committee, headed by WPS members Pat Mues and Sarah Weed, will present a narrative on the men, women and children of Warren who were enslaved and indentured, following them and their descendants using primary documents. The presentation, which will be open to the community, is being planned for May 2017.
